Fiberglass

Fiberglass

Custom automation engineering for fiberglass production support flows, covering coordinated handling from forming through rewinding and palletization, with scalable system architecture designed for continuity, traceability, and safe high-throughput operation.

Integrated Automation for Fiberglass Operations

UTIT Trascar develops fiberglass automation systems for the complete flow, from cake doffing in forming areas to rewinding, palletization, and pallet packaging. Solutions are scalable from assisted manual operations to fully automatic robotic cells, and are designed for high continuity, traceability, and safe material handling.

Doffing
Service

Doffing

In the forming area, cakes are produced one, two, or three at a time on revolving winders with two spindles. UTIT Trascar doffing systems are designed to cover manual support, semi-automatic extraction, and full robotic automation.

Process context

  • Cakes are formed on flexible paper sleeves according to tex requirements
  • Side-by-side revolving winders produce cakes with random readiness timing
  • When one spindle is full, the second spindle starts the next production cycle

Direct Roving modes

  • Manual mode: operator removes wire rings and uses a lift assist to transfer cakes to trolley racks one by one
  • Automatic mode: spindle doffer removes the wire rings automatically and extracts support frames
  • Support frames are suitable for drying ovens, storage zones, and downstream stripping/packaging areas

Assembled Roving and full automatic functions

  • Telescopic cradle extracts cakes and places two horizontal cakes per support when required
  • Operator can reload empty sleeves in assisted versions after extraction
  • Full automatic setups add sleeve insertion, cake dimension check, and cake weighing
Rewinding
Service

Rewinding

In the rewinding area, strands from cakes are assembled into roving. Feeding and end-of-cycle handling can be manual or fully automatic, depending on productivity targets.

Manual mode

  • Operator cuts and positions strands inside the bobbings, then puts the film packaging directly on the winder spindle
  • An operator with a lift assistant equipped with special clamps extracts bobbings and places them on a conveyor
  • Weighing and labeling are performed before palletization or intermediate operations

Full automatic mode

  • A Gantry or squirrel robots captures, cuts, and re-launches the wire
  • Optional wrapping modules manage film rolls and complete bobbin packaging automatically

Vertical wrapping machine

  • Cycle time averages 20 seconds.
  • For direct roving, packaging is carried out as a cold process with tension-free film.
Palletization
Service

Palletization

Palletization and pallet packaging area.

Special packaging configurations

  • Some systems require special packaging configurations, with bobbins tied together and arranged in dedicated layouts.
  • In these cases, dedicated devices can support the operator in row positioning, or dedicated tables can be integrated.
  • Palletization can be carried out with an assisted lifter equipped with an internal expanding gripping device.

Automatic mode

  • In a fully automated configuration, palletization operations can be performed by cartesian or anthropomorphic robots.
  • Pallets are built with layers of bobbins separated by interlayers.

Gantry Palletizer System

  • The Gantry Palletizer System combines automatic handling of bobbins, empty pallets, and full pallets.
  • Manual bobbin tying operations can be performed on a work platform designed for ergonomics and safety.

Pallet packaging treatments

  • Final packaging can be carried out through a dedicated packaging line.
  • Depending on requirements, the line can include pallet hooder or wrapper, full pallet weighing, and automatic labeling.
  • Once packaged, pallets can be sent directly to the storage area.
